Wives who turned their lives around through resourcefulness and creativity were picked the top winners in a search for the best small-scale women entrepreneurs in Mandaue City.
A mother of five who successfully balanced child-rearing and her snacks business to augment the family income was adjudged the grand prize winner of the 2013 Search for WINNERS (Women in Need Now Entrepreneurs and Role Models) during Tuesday’s coronation night.
Hazel del Castillo of Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City, Cebu won P50,000 in cash, among other prizes, which she plans to use to expand and diversify her snacks business. Continue reading →
In line with its vision to build communities, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has entered into a partnership with the local government to modernize the Mandaue Bridge Park for residents of the city and the rest of Cebu.
The business group’s plan is to turn the lot under the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, which measures around a hectare, into a premier facility with food kiosks and coffee shops, well-equipped playground, skating area, jogging trail, and designated spots for fitness programs like zumba and for senior citizens, said Mandaue Business Month 2013 chair Romelinda “Girlie” Garces.
She added that a cove under the bridge could be developed as a starting point for aqua sports and boating activities.
